What is documentary family photography?

Lifestyle photography mainly aims to capture portraits of people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner. While I do not pose my clients, I will give prompts to encourage action, and/or interaction between family members.

For example, in this photo the kids were playing in the leaves, so I asked them to throw the leaves in the air.

This is when the photographer is 100% hands-off, and simply captures what is happening without influencing the scene in any way. This is the approach I take for  my "Year in the Life" sessions.

What is lifestyle photography?

Tracy did such an amazing job capturing our family. I am thrilled with the way she was able to capture the true spirit of my kiddos. Our portraits are beautiful and feel in the moment as opposed to “staged.” They were just what I have always been hoping for! Highly recommend!

What my clients are saying

Tracy took breathtaking family photos. Our family has two rambunctious boys and a newborn and she was so patient with capturing their lively spirits. Memories are worth capturing and she made it feel so easy. Tracy went above and beyond and we were incredibly thankful for her precious photos. We’d definitely recommend her to friends and family!

What my clients are saying

Tracy is an absolute GEM! I had my newborn photos booked about 8 months in advance and my original photographer had to cancel last minute due to covid exposure. I was so stressed trying to find someone available that may be able to deliver photos before Christmas. Well Tracy swoops in and saves the day! She was able to capture all the perfect little features and details of our new baby girl, her nursery, and even our four legged babies! The photos she delivered are now framed in every family members house and caused tears all around for Christmas.

What my clients are saying

My sessions are super chill. I have found this to be best way to capture natural interaction and genuine emotional connection. Besides, it's just more fun for all of us!

You get stressed just thinking about having to figure out what to wear, cringe at the though of getting yourself and your family dressed and out of the house, or worry that the kids won't cooperate because they are easily bored.

My clients all receive my style guide  as well as a styling consult if needed. Sessions can be done at your home, saving you time and a few gray hairs. As for the kids, I believe in letting them be themselves. They will have fun and you won't end up a screaming lunatic trying to get them to behave. Pictures are a thousand times better when they are just doing what they normally do!

You can't seem to find enough time in the day to get everything done,  and you get overwhelmed when you have to make decisions. You end up procrastinating or completely abandoning projects because it's just too much to think about.

I will walk you through every step of the process, and help you to select your must-have images. I'll handle the selection, design, and ordering of your heirloom products, so you can rest easy knowing they won't die a slow death on your hard drive or get lost in the cloud.

We're a good fit if:

You prefer a laid-back, go-with-the-flow type of experience over something meticulously planned and overly posed

Does this sound familiar?

Is this you?

I will send a brief questionnaire so that I can get to know a little more about you and your family. You will receive my Welcome Guide which lays out the rest of the process so that you know exactly what to expect.  You'll also get my Style Guide to help with planning your wardrobe, and a complimentary phone consult if you need more help.

Once you book with me, you will receive my Style Guide to help you plan your wardrobe. Some of my clients are comfortable choosing their own outfits, while others prefer a little more guidance. For those who want more direction, I offer a complimentary styling consultation via phone call or FaceTime/Zoom to go over what will work best for your and your family.

What should we wear?

For outdoor sessions I prefer to shoot at golden hour (an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset) to get that gorgeous light. However I have shot at all times of the day with great results. Part of being a good photographer is knowing how to adapt to all lighting situations. Indoor sessions can be done just about anytime during daylight hours.

How do I know when to schedule my newborn session?

At the end of your session I will let you know approximately when you can expect your images to be completed. It varies depending on the season but usually around 3 weeks. However I will edit and send you 2 images within 1-2 days after the session (aka 'sneak peeks'). We will then schedule a time for me to come to your home for your reveal & ordering session.

What happens after the session?

I suggest booking at least two months in advance of your due date to secure a spot on my schedule. I will use your baby's due date as a tentative shoot date, and then plan the rest of my schedule accordingly for the 2 weeks before and after. Once baby arrives we will decide on a definite date.

When is the best time to have my session?

My Investment Guide will answer most of the questions i commonly receive

gimme the guide!

Talking for hours and dozing off with the tv on. The record skips a few times and we pick a new song to fall asleep to. Morning coffee, a few minutes late to work, a brisk walk down the street window shopping for the upcoming fall season. Wool sweaters, bare trees, cold nights.

Question 8

So cold we can see our breath as we hike the open fields in the fog. Climbing and chasing waterfalls while the sun sets behind the mountain and the snow falls in the river. Chatting with locals while we sip our coffee and head out for the next adventure.

Question 7

Morning coffee and reading the newspaper together, the cool fall breeze blowing through the window as you pour another cup. Black denim and leather boots, the deepest crimson flannel. Rose gold and velvet. Rich and lush. Red wine and dark twilight nights.

Question 6

Cozy sweaters, vintage demin, and Pabst while telling one of a kind love stories. The trials and tribulations of love, joy, and happiness. Lastly, champagne brunch and avocado toast while surrounded by the finest exposed brick, dreamcatchers, and maps to our souls.
